Breaking and Prepping

The top class facilities available at Colbinstown Stud make it the ideal ‘one stop shop’ for everything equine.

Sales Prepping

Foals

Foals are hand walked twice a day for short periods of time in the outdoor Sand and Fibre arena, and turned out in groups in paddocks during the day. It’s a case of little and often with them. Plenty of practice showing means they are true professionals come sales time.

Yearlings

Yearlings seem to just thrive during their sales preparation at Colbinstown Stud. We have a routine of light lunging and hand walking in the mornings. Each yearling then spends a few hours ‘switching off’ in the paddocks before more hand walking and showing practice in the afternoons. The perfect balance of mixing work and pleasure for them.

Mares

Mares are kept out during the day and rugged to maintain shiny coats. Short spells on the horse walker mean they are fit and ready for sales day.

Breaking and Pre-training

David’s background as a former trainer means each horse receives the necessary time and attention required to have them ready both mentally and physically for the rigours of training. Our close proximity of The Curragh training grounds mean young horses can benefit from trips away for extra education.
